Rabiul Islam Nayan, central joint secretary of Juba Dal and member secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan South Juba Dal, stated that he does not want to sit down with Member of Parliament and Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury to resolve the ongoing disputes between the two factions of the BNP in the Magura-2 constituency. He made this remark in response to journalists' questions at his residence in Panighata village of Mohammadpur upazila in Magura on Thursday around 9:00 PM.

When asked about a compromise with Nitai Roy, Rabiul Islam Nayan said, "No, I do not want to sit with Nitai Roy. I do not want to sit for the reason that I am not a part of the government. Why should I sit? Nitai Roy will sit with the people. His people are looting and eating public money. He is accountable to the people. He will sit with the people."

Nayan further said, "I am working to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the ordinary people. He comes, stays at his house, and stays at the circuit house." Nayan also complained about Nitai Roy's personal conduct, saying, "I have been seeing for a few days that he is only busy pulling women's hands. When any women go to him, he drives all the people away and chats with the women for five to seven hours."

According to local BNP sources, there has been a long-standing dispute in the party's politics in the Magura-2 constituency. One faction of the upazila BNP is followers of Nitai Roy Chowdhury, and the other faction is followers of Rabiul Islam Nayan.

On August 24, tension spread centering the face-to-face positions and counter-programs of the two factions of the BNP in Mohammadpur upazila. To avoid a potential clash and keep the situation under control, a large number of police, BGB, and RAB members were deployed at the Mohammadpur police station.

Later, at the assurance of the district BNP, leaders and activists of both sides suspended their pre-scheduled programs. At the same time, it is known that assurances have also been received from the Prime Minister's Office to resolve the matter quickly.
