The case was filed at Joydebpur Police Station on Sunday night, according to the station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Al Mamun. Police stated that multiple teams are conducting operations to rescue the student and arrest the accused.
The prime accused in the case, Ariful Islam, is the director and head teacher of Darul Ma'arif Hossainia Qawmi Madrasa and Markazul Quran Adarsha Mohila Madrasa, located adjacent to the Sikdar Market in the Bika bari area under Joydebpur Police Station. The other accused are his brother Sharif Mia (35), father Selim Mia (55), mother Rehima Khatun (40), and Delwar Hossain (45). All of them hail from Char Bowla village in Mymensingh Sadar upazila and currently rent homes in various areas of Gazipur.
Citing the First Information Report (FIR), police reported that the victim was an eighth-grade student at Markazul Quran Adarsha Mohila Madrasa. According to the complaint, Ariful Islam had been harassing her for a long time by propositioning her. When the student refused, she was also reportedly threatened with forced abduction.
When the matter was reported to the family, the guardians requested Ariful to refrain from such behavior. The complaint notes that, angered by this, he continued his intimidation.
According to the FIR, following this sequence of events, when the student went to the madrasa on the morning of October 10, Ariful forcibly abducted her with the assistance of the other accused. Family members searched for her in various places and, failing to find her, filed a case at the police station.
