The process of publishing the gazette for the new national pay scale has begun. The draft of the pay scale has already been sent to the BG Press. An official from the Ministry of Finance stated that the draft was sent to the BG Press yesterday.
Sources indicate that the draft will go from the BG Press to the Ministry of Finance. From there, after vetting by the Ministry of Law and officially receiving an SRO number, it will be published.
Meanwhile, Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani announced that the notification for the 9th pay scale would be published by Thursday. However, Ministry of Finance officials stated that there is a slight delay due to following the required procedures.
Finance Secretary Dr. Khairuzzaman Mozumder told the media that the notification for the 9th National Pay Scale-2026 is being issued next Sunday, September 6.
This new pay structure was approved by the Cabinet last Monday. Preparations are also underway within the government regarding the mobilization of funds necessary to implement the new pay scale.
Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani stated that the funds required for the new pay scale were taken into consideration in the Medium Term Budget Framework (MTBF). Consequently, this is not a sudden expense for the government.
He said, 'The government does not only budget for a single year; rather, it also makes an advance projection of potential income and expenditure for the coming years. The potential expenditure of the new pay scale was considered as part of that plan.'
