President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has laid the foundation stone of Thakurgaon University. He laid the foundation stone of the university on the second day of his first official visit to his home district Thakurgaon after assuming office as President.
The foundation stone was laid on Monday (September 7) at around 11:00 AM at the designated site of the proposed university beside the Thakurgaon-Piranaj road in the Jamalpur area of Sadar upazila. After laying the foundation stone, the President said that through the establishment of the university, higher education will be expanded, employment will be created, and the quality of education will be improved.
Regarding the current politics of the country, the President said, "We do not want to see the politics of conflict."
