Bangladeshi-Australian Eliza Rahman has been elected Deputy Mayor of Camden City Council in New South Wales, Australia. She secured the position through a direct vote by councilors on Monday.
Eliza Rahman is the first Bangladeshi-Australian to be elected Deputy Mayor of Camden City Council through a direct vote of the councilors.
Following the news of her election, she has received congratulations from the Bangladeshi community in Australia. Community leaders Gama Abdul Kadir, Dr. M Sirajul Haque, Shafikul Alam, Shamim Noman, Selima Begum, and Rahmatullah extended their sincere congratulations to Eliza Rahman.
They wished Eliza Rahman success in her new role and noted that her achievement is a matter of pride for the Bangladeshi community in Australia.
