What wrong did my son do? Give me an answer. Did I commit a crime by coming to Comilla for a job? Why was my son killed? I want an answer to this. How will I live now?' These were the wails of Dr. Nahida Begum, an associate professor in the Bengali Department at Comilla University, after the body of her missing 13-year-old son, Ishayek Shahriar Aprotim, was recovered.
On Saturday afternoon, September 19, Aprotim's body was recovered from the forest in the Lalmai Sananda Hill area adjacent to the Comilla University campus. Following the recovery of the body, relatives as well as teachers and students of Comilla University rushed to the home of Nahida Begum and her husband, K M Firoz Shahriar, to comfort them. At this time, the heart-wrenching cries and lamentations of the parents over the grief of their child created a somber atmosphere there.
After inspecting the crime scene, Comilla Sadar constituency Member of Parliament Monirul Haque Chowdhury visited Aprotim's family to express his condolences. At this time, Nahida Begum said, 'I have only one son. Why was he killed like this?'
Later, Member of Parliament Monirul Haque Chowdhury spoke to journalists. He said, 'As the MP of this area, I am ashamed and sad. We could not protect an innocent child. I will speak with the Prime Minister and the Home Minister. The trial of this incident must be concluded within 90 days.'
Police stated that severe injury marks were found on Aprotim's head. In the interest of the investigation into this incident, a person named Tuhin has been detained. His home is in the Sananda area. His father's name is Nurul Alam. Kotbari Police Station Inspector Mohibul Alam Bhuiyan confirmed the matter.
Earlier, on Friday, September 18, around 3:30 PM, Aprotim left his residence under the jurisdiction of Comilla Sadar South Police Station with friends for the purpose of taking pictures. Since then, he had not been found. In this regard, his father K M Firoz Shahriar filed a general diary (GD) at the police station.
Comilla Superintendent of Police Anisuzzaman said, 'Our multiple teams have taken to the field and we have found some clues. We have a person in custody, and questioning is underway. After I leave here, I will properly examine and investigate the matter of this murder. We will work on this nonstop until the real killer is caught.'
