Shaker Hossain, joint convenor of the Magura Municipal Jubo Dal and a counter master for Royal Express, was allegedly shot and killed by miscreants who entered the Royal Express counter at the Magura Central Bus Terminal. The incident took place early Wednesday (October 21). Protesting the killing, the victim's relatives, party activists, and local residents blocked the Magura-Dhaka highway and staged demonstrations. They later lifted the blockade following assurances from the administration.

Shaker Hossain worked as a counter master for Royal Express in addition to his role as the joint convenor of the Magura Municipal Jubo Dal.

According to locals and police sources, workers from an adjacent counter found Shaker Hossain lying unconscious at the Royal Express counter early Wednesday. He was rescued and taken to the Magura 250-bed Sadar Hospital, where doctors in the emergency department declared him dead.

Locals alleged that a few miscreants arrived at the bus terminal on motorcycles, opened fire targeting Shaker Hossain, and quickly fled the scene. However, it is not yet certain who was involved in the killing or what the underlying motive was.

Krishna Das, a physician in the hospital's emergency department, stated that a bullet injury mark was found on the back of the victim's head. A fragment of the bullet was recovered from the wound and preserved.

Meanwhile, as news of the killing spread, angry relatives and locals blocked the highway, demanding the swift arrest and exemplary punishment of those involved, which disrupted vehicular movement. They later withdrew the blockade after receiving assurances from the administration regarding a fair investigation and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Monowar Hossain Khan, Member of Parliament for the Magura-1 constituency, described the incident as a pre-planned murder and demanded the identification and punishment of the real culprits.

Magura Superintendent of Police Molla Azad Hossain stated that the police are working to unravel the mystery of the murder and to identify and arrest those involved.
