A depression created in the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression. The Meteorological Department has stated that it may become more powerful and turn into a cyclone. If it turns into a cyclone, its name will be 'Arnab', which is a name proposed by Bangladesh.
According to information from 12 PM on Sunday, the deep depression was located 810 kilometers south of Chattogram seaport, 730 kilometers south of Cox's Bazar, 850 kilometers south of Mongla, and 780 kilometers south of Payra seaport.
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the deep depression may move further north-northwest and turn into a cyclone on Monday. Later, it may change direction and move towards the coast of India. However, the Meteorological Department is monitoring the situation regarding changes in its path and strength.
Within 48 kilometers of the center of the deep depression, the maximum sustained wind speed is 50 kilometers per hour. During gusts or squalls, it is increasing up to 60 kilometers per hour. The sea is rough near the center of the depression.
In this situation, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra seaports have been advised to hoist distant cautionary signal number 1. At the same time, fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay of Bengal have been instructed to move cautiously near the coast until further notice.
The word 'Arnab' means ocean or sea. Bangladesh and 12 other countries participate in naming cyclones in the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea region.
