India's Rashtrapati Bhavan withdrew a notification published regarding the potential visit of Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman within just one hour. On Friday, August 21, Rashtrapati Bhavan stated that the regular 'Change of Guard' ceremony would not take place on Saturday, August 22.
The reason cited was a full dress rehearsal for the ceremonial reception of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. However, as neither Dhaka nor New Delhi had yet made any official announcement regarding Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's visit to India, the notification was subsequently withdrawn.
Although Tarique Rahman's prospective visit hinted at preparations for a state guest reception in India, neither the dates nor the itinerary for the visit have been finalized yet.
