Sydney: A digital e-book has been launched to mark the 80th birthday of Bangabandhu's daughter and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. On Monday, September 28, former Member of Parliament and Whip Advocate Sanjida Khanam officially inaugurated the digital publication of the e-book titled '79 Moments in the Courtyard of History: Bangabandhu's Daughter Sheikh Hasina'.
The e-book was edited by public health expert Dr. Abul Hasnat Milton (Sydney) and Alif Laila Hira (New York). At the e-book launch event, Dr. Hasnat and other distinguished guests present discussed various aspects and the significance of the publication in detail.
The e-book compiles 79 important moments, photographs, and wise quotes from the childhood, memories of Tungipara, struggles, and political life of the former Prime Minister. It features her simple early life in Tungipara, her subsequent leadership of the country, developmental activities, and various historical events where her life was endangered.
In the introduction to the e-book, the editors wrote, 'Tear-stained Happy Birthday: A Nation's Heartfelt Wait for a Return'. It highlights the tragedy of August 15, 1975, the pain of losing relatives while returning drawn by the call of the country, and her subsequent contributions to Bangladesh's infrastructural and economic advancement.
Every important statement and quote in the book has been presented in both Bengali and English, making it easily readable for international readers as well.
At the event, speeches were delivered by Dr. Abul Hasnat Milton along with prominent figures and civil society representatives of Sydney. The speakers noted that this e-book is not merely a collection of photographs or quotes; it is a unique document of Bangladesh's recent political history and Sheikh Hasina's long struggle.
Prominent figures from the expatriate Bangladeshi community were present at the publication celebration, which was held in a festive and solemn atmosphere. Following the inauguration, a cake was cut to celebrate Sheikh Hasina's birthday.
