Darwin has seemingly become a city of good fortune for Bangladesh cricket. The Bangladesh national team previously secured a historic Test win against the hosts in this Australian city. Now, at the same venue, the Bangladesh HP XI is in sensational form in the Top End T20 Series. By winning three matches in a row, they have climbed to the top of the points table in the nine-team tournament.
In their opening match at the Marrara Oval, the HP team defeated Nepal by 9 wickets. They followed this with a 3-wicket victory against the Hobart Hurricanes Academy. At the same ground today, the HP XI secured their third consecutive win by defeating Victoria CA by 5 wickets. They are also the only team in the tournament to win all three of their matches so far.
Sent in to bat after losing the toss, Victoria CA were bowled out for 131 runs in 19.1 overs. Off-spinner Rubel took 4 wickets for 15 runs, while left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan claimed 3 wickets for 28 runs. Victoria CA's captain Sam Harper top-scored with 49 runs, while Will Sutherland, who has played two One-Day Internationals for Australia, contributed 30 runs.
