To express solidarity and sympathy with the people affected by the catastrophic disaster in Nepal, the 'Stand with Nepal' event was held in Sydney, Australia. The event was organized by the Nepali community of the Edmondson Park and Bardia areas at Maxwell Park in Bardia, New South Wales, Sydney, on August 28 at 5:00 PM.
During the event, messages of support were conveyed to the disaster-stricken people of Nepal through candle lighting, prayers, and expressions of solidarity. Prayers were offered to remember those killed in the recent disaster in Nepal, for the speedy recovery of the injured, and for the safety and peace of the affected families.
Ibrahim Khalil Masud, Founding President of Community Voice of Australia; Deb B. Gurung JP, President of the Liverpool branch of Community Voice of Australia; and Syeda Ishrat Sultana, General Secretary, were present at the event.
During the event, speeches were delivered by Ibrahim Khalil Masud, Deb Gurung, and various community representatives. Expressing deep sympathy for the people of Nepal, the speakers stated that geographical distance cannot be a barrier to human relationships and empathy. Standing by people during times of disaster is the greatest identity of humanity.
In addition to the local Nepali community, representatives from various other communities also participated in this program of humanitarian solidarity.
