A female school teacher died after falling from a rickshaw when a mugger pulled her bag in front of the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad in the capital. The deceased teacher was Mst. Ronjina Parveen, headteacher of Bagbari Girls Government Primary School in Bogura.
The incident took place around 6:30 AM on Saturday (August 29) in front of the South Plaza of the parliament building. Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the Tejgaon Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Ibn Mizan confirmed the matter.
It is known that she arrived at the Gabtoli bus terminal early in the morning after traveling from Bogura at night to see a doctor at the Islamia Eye Hospital in the Farmgate area of the capital. While on her way to the Islamia Eye Hospital by rickshaw, as soon as she reached the South Plaza of the parliament building, a mugger on a motorcycle approached from behind and yanked her bag, causing her to fall from the rickshaw and split her head open. After rescuing her from the scene and taking her to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, the on-duty doctor declared her dead.
Regarding the matter, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the Tejgaon Division Ibn Mizan said, "We are working to identify the motorcycle and those involved. We hope to identify and arrest them very soon."
