Earlier on the same day, Md. Shahriar Alam Sojib, a security officer at Shahjalal Airport, filed a case at the airport police station accusing retired Major Akhtaruzzaman of creating chaos, obstructing public service, and committing assault over the luggage and trolley crisis at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

According to the case statement, due to heavy passenger pressure, passengers became angered on Thursday, October 1, when there was a delay in receiving luggage from a flight originating in Medina (BG-338). When the airport's executive director, Group Captain S M Ragib Samad, arrived at the scene to control the situation, retired Major Akhtaruzzaman hurled abusive language at him, pushed him by the neck to drive him out, and threatened him with assault. He even made indecent remarks regarding the aviation minister.

The statement further mentioned that when Akhtaruzzaman's companions began recording videos in a restricted area, security supervisor Warrant Officer Mohammad Kamal Uddin obstructed them. Enraged by this, retired Major Akhtaruzzaman also hurled abuses at him and physically assaulted him. In addition, he threw away bottled Zamzam water belonging to general passengers and behaved aggressively toward a Biman Bangladesh representative.

In connection with this incident, a case has been registered against Akhtaruzzaman under multiple sections of the Penal Code on charges of obstructing public service, assault, and intimidation. Meanwhile, the investigation into the incident is ongoing based on CCTV footage and witness testimony.

Notably, retired Major Akhtaruzzaman has been expelled from the BNP multiple times on charges of breaching party discipline. Most recently, he joined Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on December 13, 2025.
