A scuffle broke out between Jamaat-backed and BNP-backed lawyers on the premises of the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon, centered around the bail hearing of retired Major Aktaruzzaman. It is known that regarding Aktaruzzaman's bail hearing, lawyers from both sides engaged in heated arguments and scuffles in several phases both inside and outside the courtroom.
Earlier, after a one-day remand, Aktaruzzaman was produced in court on Sunday afternoon amidst tight security. After 2:00 PM, when he was brought into the courtroom, tension arose between the Jamaat and BNP-backed lawyers over taking positions there, which at one point escalated into a physical altercation.
As the situation became heated, the judge left the courtroom. After a short while, when the situation was brought under control, the bail hearing for Aktaruzzaman resumed. During the hearing, the defense and the prosecution presented their respective arguments. Later, after hearing both sides, the court rejected Aktaruzzaman's bail application and simultaneously ordered him to be sent to jail.
