Ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will have to face justice upon returning to the country, said Information and Broadcasting Adviser Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman.

He stated that she (Sheikh Hasina) will not become the victim of any mob or unlawful situation; rather, judicial proceedings will be conducted against her according to the law. Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman made these remarks on Tuesday (October 27) in response to journalists' questions at a press conference organized regarding the progress of various government activities.

Regarding Sheikh Hasina's return to the country, the adviser said that we would be happy if the person we want in the judicial process comes back on her own, as she would not need to be forcibly brought back. Upon her arrival, she will face the legal process, as she is a convicted accused. Whatever is legally required will take place after her return.

Regarding a specific timeframe for Sheikh Hasina's return, he said that if this is discussed repeatedly, speculation on the same matter will continue for a long time. Drawing examples of December or the following June, he mentioned that repeatedly mentioning new schedules makes the discussion repetitive.

Citing another example, Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman further stated that after the mass uprising of the nineties, Ershad did not flee the country. He and his cabinet members remained in the country, served prison sentences, and later even won five seats in the election, while his party secured 35 seats. Even if Sheikh Hasina returns to the country, whatever is due in the legal process will happen. She will not be allowed to face any kind of unlawful situation.
