National Citizen Party (NCP) Member Secretary and reserved seat Member of Parliament Nusrat Tabassum said, "I respect Tasnim Zara a lot, and she resigned immediately after the announcement of the alliance. She was a PC (part of the NCP's highest council) member at the time. I was an executive board member then. I was angry because it was not made clear to us when and what happened regarding her resignation." She made these remarks in a recent interview with a media outlet.
Nusrat Tabassum said that Zara was part of the discussions to form an alliance with Jamaat. She decided to resign following the discussions. Expressing her full support for that decision, she stated that anyone can have political hopes, ambitions, and plans regarding this matter. "Saying that she resigned solely because of the alliance with Jamaat is wrong. There is a possibility that numerous other reasons were involved here."
A split emerged in the NCP ahead of the 13th national election. Some young, talented, and promising leaders left the party. Party founding senior joint member secretary Dr. Tasnim Zara, joint coordinator Khaled Saifullah, and joint coordinator Tajnuba Jabeen, along with leaders and activists at various levels across the country, resigned and distanced themselves from the NCP. At that time, the possibility arose for several other top leaders, including Samanta Sharmin, to leave the party. However, they ultimately did not leave. Since the election, the NCP has been trying to bring the resignees back into the party. Recently, statements from several NCP leaders have reflected an interest in bringing them back into the party.
